Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics' U.K. branches began a period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, expressing condolences on the death of the monarch who passed away on Sept. 8, according to the companies, Wednesday.

Given that products of the two companies have been popular in the U.K. and some of them have also been supplied to the royal family, they said they will minimize their marketing activities in the U.K. until Sept. 19 when the queen's funeral is scheduled.

On its webpage, Samsung's U.K. branch said, “We stand united in grief with the people of the UK in mourning the loss of Her Majesty The Queen.”

The company added: “We offer our deepest condolences to the Royal Family and we commemorate the Queen's immense contribution to the world through a lifetime devoted to selfless public service.”

LG's U.K. branch also released a statement on its webpage, saying, “We send our condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth on hearing of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.”

Starting with TVs in 2006, Samsung has supplied its appliances such as TVs, refrigerators, washers, dishwashers and AirDresser clothing care devices to the royal family. In 2012, the company received a Royal Warrant, meaning that it is an official supplier to the royal family.

In 2022, Samsung was granted a renewal of its Royal Warrant and recognized as a Supplier of Consumer Electronics Products by the royal family.

The British royal family especially evaluates companies that have supplied their products and services to them for at least five years and awards three classes of certifications ― Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and Prince of Wales ― of which Samsung won the highest certification of Queen Royal Warrant this year for the first time among home appliance suppliers.
