The country's largest brewery firm Oriental Brewery (OB) received acknowledgement for five of its beer products ― Cass Fresh, Cass Light, Cass 0.0, Hanmac and OB Lager ― at the Superior Taste Awards held by the International Taste Institute (ITI).

The ITI has been hosting the awards in Belgium since 2005, inviting professional panels of chefs and sommeliers to evaluate thousands of kinds of foods and beverages coming from 100 countries around the world.

Taste experts conduct a five-stage evaluation of candidate products comprehensively from their first impression, package design, smell and taste. Foods and beverages that score an average 70 points out of 100 in every aspect receive the Superior Taste Award.

Cass Fresh and Cass Light received the awards for the third consecutive year and Cass 0.0 and Hanmac for their second consecutive years. It was the first time OB Lager joined the competition and received the award.

“We are happy to introduce quality Korean beers to the world through the world's top food and beverage fair. We thank our customers who have always supported and showed love for our beer products. OB will continue to work hard to become a representative Korean brewery in the world,” an OB official said.

OB has been leading the domestic beer market by offering various types of beer products. Last year, it introduced its new Cass product that comes in a transparent bottle to reduce paper label waste. The company also launched a non-alcoholic beer called Cass 0.0 and its first wheat beer called Cass White.
