Huawei seeks co-prosperity with Korea

Huawei Korea CEO Sun Luyuan highlighted the importance of maintaining solid cybersecurity to better gain customers' trust, which will lead to more business opportunities in Korea.

“Cybersecurity takes precedence over all commercial interests. Over the past 20 years, Huawei has maintained an excellent level of security in Korea, earning the trust of our customers,” Huawei Korea CEO Sun Luyuan said during the company's event, titled “Sustainable shared growth: digitalization, eco-friendliness and human resources,” held Wednesday.

During the event, Sun and Huawei Global External Relations and Communications President Karl Song also touched upon the current status of global and Huawei Korea businesses as well as future growth strategies.

Huawei Korea, which supplies various ICT technologies and solutions such as wired and wireless communication equipment including 5G and storage in Korea, is scheduled to celebrate its 20th anniversary in Korea next year.

“Despite difficulties, we cherish and keep the promises of our customers and partners, and have earned their recognition and trust,” Sun said.

Huawei Korea is moving rapidly towards digitization around the world, and it has also offered to provide solutions necessary for the digital transformation of various industries and companies.

Huawei Korea says it plans to continue to innovate in connection, computing, digital energy and cloud technology, which are key technologies for digital transformation.

Sun also expressed his hopes to actively continue social contribution activities for the development of the Korean ICT industry.

Last year, Huawei Korea announced that it had created thousands of jobs directly and indirectly through cooperation with Korean companies.

Huawei is delivering and sharing ICT knowledge and technology with industry and academia while pursuing the philosophy of open development. Over the past three years, over 3,000 ICT workers have participated in CSR projects such as Huawei headquarters training, an ICT contest, a university student employment guide, scholarship award and free ICT academy online education programs.

The company plans to strengthen industry-academia cooperation with Korean universities in the future.

“Sustainable joint development is the goal pursued by Huawei Korea. We will create a smart world where individuals, families and organizations are fully connected,” the CEO said.

Song says that despite setbacks, Huawei has maintained a solid and stable business, and that the company is focusing on technological innovation and R&D investment to improve management efficiency and stable business development, while recruiting workers from all over the world.

He also emphasized the importance of digitization, green growth and skill development, as many countries are working to promote digital economy development, digital inclusion and sustainable growth.

“More than 170 countries around the world have announced their national digital strategies,” Song said. “In addition, since a stable and fast internet connection, ubiquitous cloud service, and complete intelligence will become essential elements in daily life, work and manufacturing, ICT infrastructure has become a critical foundation for the development of the digital economy.”
