Volvo CE vows to go emissions-free by 2040

Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) is taking action to go emissions-free by 2040. Melker Jernberg, president of Volvo CE, is set to present how Volvo CE's procedures to eliminate emissions and discuss how collaboration between industry, academia and governments is needed to realize a carbon-neutral society, at the Green Technology special session of the 2021 Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Seoul Summit.

Jernberg has been invited as a keynote speaker of the Green Technology session for the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit. The special session will be held virtually at 8 p.m. on May 28, two days prior to the P4G Seoul Summit.

Building on its 190 years of innovation legacy, Volvo CE is a leading global construction manufacturing company developing and offering electric products and solutions for sustainable growth.

P4G is a global consultative body where government agencies, companies and NGOs join hands to respond to climate change and achieve the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Green Technology session is scheduled to be held in the Green Future Week prior to the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit and will be hosted by the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT.

In his speech, Jernberg will address Volvo CE's commitment to become 100 percent fossil fuel-free by 2040 and how driving innovation and a circular approach across the entire value chain is critical to creating sustainable transportation and infrastructure.

He will also join a panel discussion to talk about how companies, science and technology experts and other parts of global society need to collaborate on accelerating the transformation into emissions-free societies.

Themed “Green Technology, Path Finder for Carbon-Neutral Society,” the special session will invite speakers from global companies, research institutes and international organizations to introduce how each party is utilizing technologies to accomplish their carbon-neutral strategies.

Established in 1832, Volvo CE is building on its 190 years of innovation to develop technologies that contribute to sustainable growth. In 2019, Volvo CE became the first construction equipment company to offer fully electric compact wheel loaders and excavators to the market and stop new diesel engine-based development of those models.
