Dongsuh Foods hosts 12th Coffee Classic Concert

Dongsuh Foods held its 12th annual Dongsuh Coffee Classic Concert in Busan, South Gyeongsang Province, inviting pianist Park Jong-hwa and members of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra.
Prior to hosting the concert at Cheolma Elementary School on Nov.13, the company organized a mentor program so that Park and Busan Philharmonic Orchestra could provide quality music lessons and perform with the student orchestra.
The company also donated onstage uniforms and musical instruments, such as a bass drum and timpani, to aspiring musicians.
According to the country's top coffee manufacturer, it has been organizing the Dongsuh Coffee Classic Concert for local communities and to contribute to the country's classical music scene. The free concert has presented top musicians of the country every autumn since 2008.
Meanwhile, Dongsuh donated violins, cellos, flutes and clarinets to the Sinan Elementary School Orchestra in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province. Some 280 million won ($240,678) has been invested in the project over the past decade.
“We have been focusing on diverse programs to support students in achieving their dreams of becoming successful musicians,” a Dongsuh Foods official said. “We will keep on sharing literature and the arts with those who are in need.”
Dongsuh has been holding diverse programs for the public interested in literature as well. Its Mentoring Bulletin Board program provides online editing services for those wishing to upgrade their writing. Its mentoring program allows people to meet professional writers.
The company offers the Dongsuh Literature Award for female writers. A number of Korean female writers debuted through this award.
Other activities include volunteering at local orphanages and donating books to elementary schools in rural areas, on top of cultural events. The company has also been running a scholarship program since 1993.
