“LawBreakers,” a gravity-defying combat game from Nexon, has drawn the spotlight at the world’s largest game event in the United States.
The game giant unveiled the multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) title for three days from June 13 during this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles.
Fans at its booth have been particularly excited about the game’s console version compatible with PlayStation 4, Nexon said.
The company believes the new console title will help the game titan to make smooth inroads into Western markets — such as the U.S. and Europe — where demand for video games and the FPS genre run higher than in Asia.
“Hundreds of gamers lined up in front of the LawBreakers booth to play the much-anticipated title during the three-day event,” a Nexon official said. “Their initial response was explosive especially for the console version.”
“LawBreakers” will be available on the global market — except for Asia and Russia — Aug. 8 for the PC and console versions, the company said.
The game is priced at $29.99 (34,000 won) for the Core Edition, with Deadzo Deluxe Edition selling at $39.99. Once users purchase either of the packages, they can enjoy the game without additional charges — except for some character accessories which have nothing to do with characters’ in-game ability, according to Nexon.
The upcoming flagship title has in recent months caught keen attention from fans here and abroad, as legendary designer Cliff Bleszinski took part in the development of the sci-fi shooter. Bleszinski’s hit titles include “Gears of Wars” and “Unreal Tournament.”
He expressed excitement while visiting the “LawBreakers” booth during the E3 tradeshow.
“This is the first time in my 20-year development career that a game has drawn such an explosive initial response from users,” he said. “We expect more fans to enjoy an open best service of the game ahead of its official launch.”
“LawBreakers” was developed by Boss Key Productions based in the U.S., with Nexon publishing the title via the two platforms. The game features futuristic graphics combined with an unprecedented gravity-defying 5-versus-5 arena battle format.
The game includes 18 characters with diverse combat skills and weapons. Users can also enjoy a variety of playing modes on hyper-realistic background maps. (Advertorial)
