LG CNS wins traffic-system project in Malaysia

A consortium including LG CNS Co., an IT affiliate of LG Group, has clinched a 20 billion won (16 million dollars) deal in Malaysia on Wednesday to establish a bus-operation management system, speeding up efforts to tap deeper into the Southeast Asian market.

Under the deal, LG CNS will provide a management solution to Penang, located northwest coast, that will manage around 400 buses. The project is expected to be completed by August next year.

LG CNS will be in charge of providing an automated fare collection system as well as other operation solutions.

The South Korean firm first tapped the Malaysian market in 2012 by establishing a telecommunication system for a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line.

In February, LG CNS also won the project to build a bus system that connects to 31 MRT stations.

LG CNS said it will continue to penetrate further into Southeast Asia and gradually expand to other areas such as Europe and Latin America. (Yonhap)
