HP launches new storage drives

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced new storage drive systems for mid-sized companies to increase performance at a lower cost.

“Recently, domestic companies have showed preferences for mid-range offerings, while high-end products had been more prevalent in this market,” said Lee Kyung-keun, director of HP’s storage enterprise group at HP Korea, during a press event last week.

In the storage market, the high-end segment has been shrinking especially in Europe, and the domestic market will follow suit.

Mid-sized companies need to make fast decision and movement, but they often face lack of resources to benefit from powerful storage systems widely used in large companies. HP’s new offerings will bridge the gap, he added.

Included in the new systems is an SSD read-caching for HP MSA Storage, which enables users to perform large-scale queries and other data-intensive operations with up to 65 percent less latency.

HP StoreVirtual Storage system, dubbed the StoreVirtual 4335 hybrid flash array was also introduced. The hybrid flash array delivers 12 times the performance and more than 90 percent power, combining with the latest SSC and adaptive optimization functionality.
