Korean online retailers are reaping big sales benefits from targeting customers around the world.

According to shopping mall OKDGG, overseas sales increased threefold last year, compared with the previous year, reaching 8 billion won ($7.2 million). The company expects this to hit 20 billion won this year.

Sales to customers in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore make up the largest portion, 68 percent, followed by the United States (16.9 percent), Japan and New Zealand (both 4.9 percent).

Clothing sales top the list at 35 percent, followed by fashion accessories (20 percent) and cosmetics (15 percent), the company said.

Online retailer Gmarket, which is leading the trend, started its overseas business in 2006.

According to the company, overseas sales doubled last year from two years ago. China, including Hong Kong and Macao, is the biggest consumer group, followed by Taiwan, Russia, Ukraine and Australia.
