LG sets up 2nd LCD TV line in China

LG Electronics Inc., the world's second-biggest TV supplier by shipments, said Sunday that the company has established its second liquid crystal display (LCD) TV production line in China at its plant located in Shenyang.

"LG Electronics has only produced cathode-ray-tube TVs at its Shenyang plant. By setting up an LCD TV production line, we're aiming to meet growing demand in China," said an LG official.

Up until now, LG Electronics has produced all of its LCD TVs in China at its plant in Nanjing, located in the eastern part of the nation.

The newly launched LCD TV production line has a monthly production capacity of 65,000 units, the company said.

LG Electronics said it plans to raise the monthly production capacity of LCD TVs in its Shenyang plant to 130,000 by adding another LCD TV production line in July. (Yonhap)
