SKT, KT, LG raise smartphone sweepstakes

Competition is heating up in the smartphone market, with manufacturers looking to release their newest premium phones in the first half of the year. Apple, the absolute strongest in the smartphone market, is set to come up with a new iPhone as early as June.

LG Electronics, which had a hard time last year due to belated moves in the market, is looking forward to a resurgence.

It ambitiously launched the Optimus 2X through SK Telecom, which started subscription sales of the phone last Friday. Being the first dual core smartphone in the world, the handset has much improved speed, and boasts a 4 inch screen and 8 mega pixel camera.
