Mobis introduces innovative products
Hyundai Mobis, the country’s biggest supplier of auto components by any measure, disclosed an innovative environmentally-friendly product made of hanji, or Korea’s traditional handmade paper.
The affiliate of the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group said Wednesday that it has developed a premium speaker made of hanji, which will be used in the new version of the Grandeur model automobile of Hyundai Motor.
``Speakers are composed of a body and foam edge. They were previously made using metals like aluminum and the latter was produced with sponges or rubbers. Hence, disposal at the end of their use caused harmful gases,’’ a Hyundai Mobis spokesman said.
``In comparison, our product adopted hanji for the body and eco-friendly silicon rubbers for the foam edge. Accordingly, they do not produce any harmful gases when they are disposed.’’
