Current account surplus hits 3-month high in October

The Bank of Korea said Friday that current account surplus increased to a three-month high in October as exports of cars and other key products remained robust.

The surplus reached $5.37 billion, up from $3.95 billion September, the central bank said.

The figure represented the largest surplus since $5.82 billion in July.

The current account remained in the black for the ninth straight month, aided by brisk exports, which account for about 50 percent of the nation's economy.
