BOK, KAMCO, Korea Exchange under fire for fat paychecks

A group of public enterprises in the financial industry dubbed “god-given jobs” have been under public scrutiny for overly their generous compensation and lax management.
During the audit by the National Assembly, the focus tends to be on their generous remuneration packages, for which they have been “notorious” for, particularly highlighted by big bonuses Wall Street bankers enjoyed before the global financial crisis.
The latest financial institution to be scrutinized was the Bank of Korea (BOK). Rep. Lee Yong-sup, a member of the main opposition Democratic Party in the Strategy and Finance Committee, said Sunday that the BOK has paid up to 170 million won per employee for their overseas studies.
