Statistics Agency to Trim 101 Jobs

South Korea's statistics agency plans to cut its workforce by 4.3 percent this year as part of efforts to slim down, Yonhap News reported quoting officials Sunday.

The National Statistical Office will cut 101 out of its 2,358 jobs, mostly through attrition, by the end of this year, an NSO official said. The statement is the first such announcement this year regarding planned job cuts by a government agency.

The statistics agency will also consolidate its regional offices, an official said.

Last month, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance said 69 state-run companies plan to slash about 19,000 jobs over the next three to four years.
