Asiana, KAL Pilots to Perform Joint Concert

Pilots of Korea's two national airlines will make a joint effort to help the poor.
A band comprised of Asiana Airlines' pilots, named ``VFR (Visual Flight Rule),'' will hold a fundraising concert together with Korean Air's pilot band ``Jam Pilot'' at club DGBD near Hongik University, central Seoul, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Titled ``1st You're Not Alone,'' all proceeds of the concert will be donated to the welfare department of Gangseo-gu ward office, which will use the money to help orphans.
``We've designed the concert as we thought that the members can display their ability and enjoy themselves while helping others at the same time. The meaning of the concert has doubled with the Korean Air band joining,'' the leader of VFR said.
With this joint concert, VFR plans to expand the event into one in which all pilot bands of Korean and foreign carriers can participate.
Visual Flight Rule is a set of aviation regulations whereby navigation and obstacle clearance is maintained with reference to pilots' vision. ``Pilots usually follow IFR (Instrument Flight Rule), a set of regulations whereby navigation is maintained with reference to aircraft instruments only. The name of the band means that we pilots express our passion freely and can do what we want when we play music,'' he said.
