An international conference on customer satisfaction opens in Seoul Tuesday to mark the 10th anniversary of the National Customer Satisfaction Index (NCSI), introduced to the country by the Korea Productivity Center (KPC) in 1998.
KPC officials said that the ``NCSI 10th Anniversary International Conference'' will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Intercontinental Hotel in southern Seoul from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
``We are going to shed light on the achievements of the NCSI over the past 10 years from various points of view and examine how it has contributed to the competitiveness of our enterprises,'' KPC President Bae Sung-kee said.
After the opening and congratulatory addresses, the KPC will present prizes to companies that have given good performances in past NCSI surveys. Case studies of several firms such as SK Telecom and Asiana Airlines will follow.
In particular, the one-day event provides a rare opportunity for participants to listen to special lectures by prominent experts from abroad such as Claes G. Fornell and Jan Eklof.
Fornell is one of the world's leading experts on customer satisfaction measurement, who developed the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), the benchmark for the NCSI. He is now teaching at the University of Michigan.
Jan Eklof, a Ph.D. in economics is now the dean of the Stockholm School of Economics and is also the Program Director & CEO for the European Performances Satisfaction Index (EPSI Rating).
``It will be a significant place where participants can receive up-to-date information in the area of customer satisfaction and prepare for future customer satisfaction management,'' said KPC Executive Director Lee Chun-sun.
KPC was established as a non-profit, non-governmental organization in August 1957. Since its foundation, the KPC has played a crucial role in enhancing productivity in industries to promote the rapid growth of the national economy.
