Lee Jae-woo Named Shinhan Card CEO

Shinhan Financial Group, the nation's second largest financial services provider, appointed Lee Jae-woo as the chief executive officer of Shinhan Card, Tuesday.

Lee, 57, who served as the vice president of the group, will lead Shinhan Financial's new credit card subsidiary that merged with LG Card last March, beginning October 1.

Lee started his career at Shinhan Bank in 1982 and worked his way up to become chief operating officer of the group in 2004. He is noted for his participation in the group's successful takeover of Chohung Bank and LG Card.

Shinhan Financial also appointed Kang Hong-kyu, Park Soo-ik and Shin Jong-kyun from LG Card as vice presidents of Shinhan Card, while naming Jun Doo-hwan and Kim Hee-geon from Shinhan Card as vice presidents of the credit card unit as well.

Shinhan Bank Executive Vice President Lee Baek-soon will succeed CEO Lee as the vice president of Shinhan Financial. Yoon Jae-woon will remain as vice president of the group.
