Corporate direct financing in Korea jumped 36 percent in November from the previous month, fueled by an increase in financial bond issuances, data showed Thursday.

Local companies raised a combined 26.4 trillion won ($20.2 billion) by selling stocks and bonds last month, up 6.9 trillion won from October, according to the Financial Supervisory Service.

Direct financing refers to raising funds directly from the stock and bond markets without borrowing from banks and other financial institutions.

As of end-November, the value of outstanding corporate bonds came to 640 trillion won, up 1.3 percent from a month ago. (Yonhap)
