Hana Financial Group has donated $300,000 as urgent aid for the recovery and support of those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

The group announced Wednesday that it delivered the relief money earlier this week through the Community Chest of Korea as well as other global relief agencies. The decision was made as part of the group's efforts to participate in global relief activities.

KEB Hana Bank ― part of Hana Financial Group ― currently operates an office in Istanbul, which is part of the group's 206 global operations in 25 countries. Hana Bank is the only Korean commercial bank that maintains a regional office in Istanbul.

“The group expresses its deepest condolences to the Turkish and Syrian people who are suffering due to the sudden earthquakes,” Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo said. “Hana Financial Group will provide support for earthquake survivors and for quick recovery from the earthquake damage.”

In 2020, Hana Financial Group donated 10,000 COVID-19 diagnostic kits to Indonesia's health ministry during the pandemic. The group also donated money for typhoon-damaged Vietnam in 2022.
