No Korean casualties in Las Vegas massacre, but eight 'missing'
By Bahk Eun-ji
There were no reports of Korean casualties in the Las Vegas shooting rampage, but eight travelers have not been accounted for, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday.
It said officials at the South Korean consulate general in Los Angeles contacted the Clark County Coroner's Office and were told there were no Korean casualties.
But they are trying to confirm the whereabouts of eight people who had not been reached as of 11:15 a.m. They were on trips to Las Vegas or other western regions in the U.S., reports said. Relatives and friends said they haven't been able to contact them.
Following Sunday's shooting, about 40 "lost-contact" reports were filed with the LA consulate general and other Korean consular offices. Most people have been contacted.
Sunday night’s shooting killed 59 people and injured more than 500.
