'The Attorney' ranks 8th highest-grossing domestic film

By Cho Hyun-eui"The Attorney" hits the 11.1million admissionsThe movie “the Attorney” crossed 11.1 million admissions and ranked the 8th highest-grossing domestic films in Korea, according to its distributor Next Entertainment World on Sunday. This movie, which premiered last December, hit the 1 million admissions mark just after three days. One month after its release, it entered the 10 million admissions club. Finally, the film reached 11.1 million admissions after 45 days in theaters, beating the 11.08 million record set by "Silmido.""The Attorney" became the eighth local movie to pass the box office milestone in Korea, following "The Host" (13.20 million), "The Thieves" (12.98 million), "Miracle in Cell No. 7" (12.81 million), "Masquerade" (12.32 million), "The King and the Clown" (12.30 million), "Taegukgi" (11.75 million) and "Haeundae" (11.45 million).

Humans in Korea unaffected by Avian Influenza

AI-infected poultries are being quarantined by staffs. / Courtesy of dongA.comBy Ko Dong-hwan A Korean health agency announced the rampant H5N8-type Avian Influenza inflicted zero human casualties as it swept numerous parts of the nation, sources said Monday.Since the first report of AI infection on Jan. 16, there was no confirmed infection among approximately 2,000 farmers and agency staffs dispatched to infected sites for quarantine.At a farm in Gochang county, North Jeolla Province _ the site that reported first case of the recent epidemic _ 20 farm workers, 212 quarantine staffs and 12 responsive staffs were tracked down for possible infection. All of them were confirmed clean of the poultry disease.      The agency also said there wasn’t any reported case of AI infection on humans in hospitals and other medical facilities.The announcement was made by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an affiliate of the Ministry of Health and Welfare.The sources quoted an associate from the agency as saying no location in the world has yet
