Attractive women should think twice about enclosing their photo when applying for a job because they are less likely to get an interview, research has found
According to Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, women who work in a company may be jealous of beautiful rivals joining them.
Researchers submitted CVs for about 2,500 jobs over 18 months. They made up the personal information, qualifications and experience.
The CVs without pictures were most likely to be offered an interview. Those with photos of “ordinary looking” women were next. But the CVs with photos of attractive women came last.
“Females in charge of hiring may well be jealous of prospective female employees who are attractive and compete with them for mates, or at least for the attention of male co-workers,” the Daily Mail quoted researcher Bradley Ruffle as saying.
