Several skeletons were found in the attic of a villa in Incheon City on Saturday afternoon, Korean news agency Newsis reports.
The landlord found more than 20 skeletons in a cardboard box in Okryun-dong.
Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency confirmed that the box belonged to a man, 56, surnamed Choi, whose job was to care for the remains of people who had no family or friends.
“Choi had not paid rent for a year, and then disappeared, which is why we were moving his belongings into the attic,” the landlord said.
“That’s when one of the people moving his belongings found this box full of bones.”
Police, who are looking for Choi, believe he kept the bones at home because of financial difficulties.
