Citizens are being invited to nominate people for key public service jobs.

According to the Ministry of Personnel Management, the “citizen direct nomination system” will operate for positions including the heads of the government office and the public service.

Recommendations can be made through the Nation Human Resources Database website (www.hrdb.go.kr) regardless of whether potential candidates are civil servants.

Self-nomination is also possible.

The ministry will review nominations based on qualifications, work experience and factual confirmations.

“We are targeting more creative ways to find leaders from all corners of society, from various angles and approaches to personnel management,” a ministry official said.

“We hope to widen our scope by opening the personnel appointments to reflect what the citizens want.”
