A man in his 70s tried to offer US ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert dog meat to help him recover from injuries, the Associated Press reported Saturday.
The man visited the hospital with a package he claimed contained dog meat and seaweed soup, an official was quoted as saying.
The report said the official asked to remain anonymous because he "wasn't authorized to speak to the media."
The man asked that the package delivered to Lippert to "help him heal," but the hospital refused on health and security grounds.
The US envoy is recovering after anti-US activist Kim Ki-joong attacked him with a knife last Thursday.
Hospital officials say Lippert, 42, is expected to be released as soon as tomorrow.
