It now only costs about 20,000 ($18) won to fly to Jeju Island.

According to online shopping site Interpark, Korean Air and Asiana, the country’s major airlines, offer one-way fares from Kimpo Airport to Jeju Island at 20,000- 30,000 won ($27), thanks to lower fuel surcharges. The rate has gone down 83 percent this year from a year earlier, to 2,200 won ($2). Last summer, tickets were 120,000 won ($109).

“It is the best time to travel around the country as ticket prices have decreased,” said an Interpark spokesperson. “It’s even cheaper to book on mobile, which gives you an extra discount.”

Social commerce sites WeMakePrice and Ticket Monster offer tickets to Jeju Island at 28,600 won ($26) and 30,800 won ($28) respectively. Prices include fuel surcharges.
