Weight-loss product sales have soared as Koreans face up to the end of the long holiday of devouring fatty foods.

According to Gmarket on Wednesday, sales of weight-loss products from Feb. 18 to 23 climbed 61 percent compared with the previous week.

Products in demand included herbal tea and cereal bars.

Indoor sports goods, such as gym balls, hoops, step boxes and yoga mats, also grew in popularity.

“People eat a lot of high-carb, high-fat food during the holidays,” a Gmarket manager said. “That is why many look for supplements and exercise equipment after the holidays.”
