U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Mark Lippert announced on Twitter this week that his newborn son will get a Korean middle name, which will be determined using an ancient fortune-telling technique called “saju.”
“Welcome (the) newest member of the Lippert family! Mom & son are great! Full name TBD saju process; Korean middle name,” he tweeted Tuesday, along with photos of the baby and his wife, Robyn.
Saju is a traditional Chinese fortunetelling discipline based on the “four pillars” of a person ― the year, month, day and time of birth.
Lippert revealed that his wife was pregnant after being named to the ambassador post last October.
In three months, since taking the post, Lippert has drawn positive responses with this social media engagement as well as his blog, “The Lipperts in Korea.”
The Lipperts are reportedly the first U.S. ambassadorial couple to have a baby in Seoul.
