Daegu police arrested a man Monday for allegedly swindling some 70 million won ($64,000) from a mentally-disabled man.
According to the police, the 26-year-old man, identified by his surname Park, was “friends” with the disabled man, surnamed Kim. Since 2011, Park allegedly took money from Kim’s account on 48 separate occasions.
In 2014, Park allegedly stole Kim’s identity, borrowing 12 million won ($11,000) from moneylenders.
Park, a colleague and hometown friend of Kim’s, allegedly offered to help take care of his “friend’s” accounts, police said.
