Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), a new Seoul landmark whose distinctive design has been likened to a giant spaceship, was seen “taking off” from earth in a comical news parody.
Posted late last month, the video depicts a news report being recorded in front of the plaza in eastern Seoul. The reporter ― former Arirang anchor Scott Thompson ― is introducing Korea’s tourism industry when a part of the DDP begins to light up, and eventually takes off for outer space.
The video contains humorous details, such the words “space tour company” written on the side of a passing bus.
The video was made by a group called “Monday Morning Creative Lab” in conjunction with WinkTable Production. The video had over 77,000 views on YouTube as of Monday.
