With the arrival of the Year of Sheep, Starbucks Korea’s blue sheep mugs and tumblers have scored a nationwide jackpot, selling out all of its limited products in only two days.

According to Starbucks Korea, the products were a smash hit especially among mothers-to-be because there is a popular belief in Korea that drinking from a blue sheep mug is good for pregnant women.

Starbucks Korea said Friday that the limited-edition products were sold out in the nation’s 730 stores in just two days after they were released on New Year’s Day.

“The blue sheep symbolizes good luck in Korea. For those who are expecting a baby this year, the mugs and tumblers have drawn immense popularity. Some people also bought them as a gift for expectant mothers,” Yonhap News Agency quoted a company official as saying.

Given that about 10,000 blue horse mugs and tumblers, released for last year’s New Year’s Day, were sold out in a few hours, the company tripled the supply for the sheep mugs and tumblers this year.

At another coffee chain Angel-in-us, things were no different. The coffee franchise also released blue mugs and tumblers on New Year’s Day, and they were sold out in about a week.
