'Malicious code' is disguised as 'The Interview' torrent

Listen

A government agency is warning people against illegally downloading “The Interview” to their smart phone, saying it could expose them to a malignant code.

The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) said Monday that the code is being disguised as a movie torrent. It said the code provides access to one’s smart phone banking information.

KISA said it was working to prevent the code from causing further damage but advised that people download the film through legitimate channels.

Sony Pictures Entertainment released the controversial film last week in some U.S. theaters and online. The release came after a massive hacking of the Sony, which Washington says was carried out by North Korea.
