Korea Broadcast Advertising Corp. (KOBACO)’s “2014 Korea Public Service Advertising Festival” winner has gone viral with its creative satire on Lotte World Mall’s industrial accidents.
KOBACO co-hosted the festival with the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) and announced the presidential prize winner “Pinocchio’s Lie,” on Dec. 10.
On Friday, KOBACO publicized the winning piece on a rusty pillar at a bus station in front of Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, Seoul. A long screw sticks out from Pinocchio’s face, which is two dimensional on the pillar, with sarcastic words below reading: “It’s okay, you are safe.” “Don’t trust the lies of ‘Carelessness.’” “Negligent accidents start from small lies.”
The winning submission is being publicized in several other places in the capital
Lotte World Mall has been at center of criticism for safety issues since it opened in October. A laborer dropped dead, water leaked through cracks in the aquarium and a 20-something woman was pinned under an exit door on the first floor.
