Teenage girl slashes classmate with box cutter

A Daegu middle school student has been suspended for slashing a fellow student’s arm with a box cutter, Yonhap News Agency reported Thursday.
Yonhap said the two female students had quarreled over mobile messenger services. But the situation worsened Thursday when the first student slashed the second, making an incision some 10 centimeters long.
The victim - who at one point reportedly taunted the victim - received immediate treatment at nearby hospital, the report said.
Two girls were allegedly close until a minor squabble snowballed into a more serious dispute.
The assailant will be suspended, the report said, while the victim will be assigned to community service for her role in the incident.
