Tatsuya Kato, former head of the Seoul bureau of Japan’s conservative Sankei Shimbun newspaper, gets in a car after attending the first court hearing in his trial at Seoul Central District Court, Thursday. Kato was indicted last month on charges of defaming President Park Geun-hye by writing a slanderous article in August about rumors of her whereabouts when the ferry Sewol sank on April 16.
