The Daegu High Court has upheld a ruling in a rape case involving two North Korean defectors, finding the male defendant innocent.
A 44-year-old originally from the North, surnamed Sohn, had claimed that she was raped on Apr. 10 by Park, 56, who also escaped from the communist dictatorship, a local vernacular reported.
The two had met at a social gathering for defectors. They had a meal together and went to Park’s apartment in Daegu, where Sohn asserted she was raped.
Daegu High Court judged him as not guilty based on an account that the alleged victim continued to meet Park after the incident and even accepted a gift from him, the report said.
