Police in southern Seoul have arrested a 43-year-old woman for making thousands of prank calls to emergency call centers, which she apparently made while under the influence of alcohol.
The woman surnamed Song made 4,654 prank calls to emergency 112 call centers between January 2010 and July 2014, according to the Dobong Police Station.
Once she got an operator on the line, she pulled pranks such as saying she was suicidal or had found a dead body.
The woman claimed she was drunk when she made the calls, Yonhap News Agency reported.
Prank callers to police stations face fines of up to 100,000 won ($94.80). Penalties for habitual pranksters or those whose calls inflict damage can be stiffer, including jail time.
