Japan's 'Owl' craft beer to land in Korea

Japanese craft beer company Kiuchi Brewery is bringing its iconic “Owl beers” to Korea.

Kiuchi, makers of the Hitachino Nest beers – which feature the famous cartoon owl – have finalized a deal to establish a brewery in Eumseong-gun, North Chungcheong Province, a local vernacular reported.

Kiuchi has reportedly signed a partnership with a Korean partner to establish a brewery called “Korea Craft Beer,” where a master brewer from Kiuchi will oversee brewing.

Launched in 1996, the Hitachino Nest brand is being exported to about 30 countries. Korea is the biggest customer, accounting for some 30 percent of the beer’s total sales.

Hitachino Nest comes with ten varieties, including White Ale, Pale Ale, Weizen, Sweet Stout.
