Traffic congestion has become a major problem for Seoul City and the flow of vehicles was found to be worst in the street in front of Hongik University, a major leisure district.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s “2013 Seoul Vehicle Speed Report’’ announced on Monday, vehicles pass the street in front of the university at a daily average speed of 12 kilometers per hour.

This is dramatically slower than the average speed of 25.1kph measured in Seoul’s main roads.

Another bad traffic area was the road near Supyogyo, which is between the Seoul Chungbu Police Agency and the Uljiro 3-ga Subway Station, where vehicle movement was measured at 12.4kph.

The report, however, indicated that the traffic situation has improved slightly in the nation’s capital.

When combining inter-city expressways and main roads, the average speed of cars was measured at 26.4kph, an improvement from 24.2kph in 2012.
