Gwanghuimun Gate

Tourists walk through Gwanghuimun Gate near Dongdaemun in Seoul, which was opened to the public for the first time. The gate, having suffered destruction during the Japanese occupation and the 1950-1953 Korean War, was used as an exclusive exit for the removal of the dead from the capital during the Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910). Restoration was completed in 1976, but it had been kept closed as a conservation measure. The gate will be open 24 hours a day. / Yonhap
