Listen

The court in Gwangju has handed down a sentence of chemical castration to a 21-year-old Kang for sexually abusing a child, in addition to a jail term of three years and four months.

The presiding judge said while Kang is suffering from a number of psychological and physical ailments, he had the ability to judge what is right from wrong. There was no appeal in the case.

Kang is to receive medical treatment for one year and his criminal record will be kept public for five years. He will also be strapped to an electronic anklet for six years to keep under surveillance.
