The Dobong police in northern Seoul arrested a drunk who repeatedly assaulted people at a funeral Wednesday.
The initial offense was obstruction of justice, according to the police.
The suspect, a Kim, allegedly attended at least two funerals of people he did not know from December last year to February, asking for food and drinks for free.
Kim allegedly threatened an employee at the funeral with a round object, kicked doors and bothered visitors who were parking their vehicles.
For three months, from last Sep., Kim allegedly harassed police officers at their work asking for a job. He caused a scene by pushing them physically, throwing flip-flops at them, hampering the officers to do their work.
Kim has a number of criminal records, including charges of obstruction of justice, all of which were committed while being drunk.
“The suspect went to funerals on purpose because food and drinks there are easy to get, and the families are reluctant to report in the midst of heartbreak,” the police said.
