A person died while two others were injured when a vehicle went into reverse gear in an island close to Haeundae in the southern port city of Busan.
Apparently, the accident was devised by the husband in his 30s who was looking to collect on his wife’s insurance policy.
Following an investigation, the Busan police have arrested a 32-yer-old Park and a 31-year-old Lee on charges of homicide.
The police said they have evidence that Park made arrangements so that the luxury sedan that she was driving rapidly went into a reverse mode, resulting in the vehicle plunging into the sea and resulting in her death.
But facts came to light after it became clear that Park subscribed to various insurance policies on his wife’s behalf, amounting to more than 110 million won ($100,000) over a period of four years.
