Steel Toilet for Obese Patients

A special toilet has been introduced for the morbidly obese at a new hospital ward in Britain, attracting media attention.

British media Lincolnshire Echo reported Tuesday that the extra-strong toilet has been installed at the Lincoln County Hospital for the obese patients who have received gastric resection due to threat of life caused by severe weight.

The toilet won't be damaged by the obese whose weight amounts to 70 stone or about 444kg, the paper said.

The reinforced steel toilet manufactured by Armitage Shanks is still in the prototype stage.

An extra-strong bed and others for the obese have also been installed, the media said.

영국의 한 병원에서 비만 환자들을 위한 특수 변기를 설치해 주목을 받고 있다.

5일 영국 매체 링컨셔 에코 등 외신들에 따르면 영국 링컨 컨트리 병원이 새로운 병실에 비만인들을 위해 설치한 이 변기는 심각한 비만으로 생명의 위협을 받아 `위절제술'을 받게 된 비만환자들을 위해 특별히 제작된 것으로 보도됐다

이 변기는 몸무게가 무려 70스톤 (약 444kg)이 돼도 끄떡없는 것으로 알려졌다.

강철로 만들어진 이 특수 변기들은 아미티지 생크스가 제작해 이 병원에 시범적으로 설치했다.

이 병실에는 비만 환자들을 위해 특별히 튼튼한 침대 등도 설치돼 있다.
