Actor Song Il-gook Sheds 15kg for New Drama
Top actor Song Il-gook has lost 15kg for his new drama, according to press reports.
He has been building up his body before the shooting of a new MBC special weekend drama, ``A Man Called to Be a God.'' He was well known for having a robust body ― 185cm in height and 90kg in weight. However, he is now down to 75kg.
Drama production officials said the main character of this drama is originally fast and fit, and Song was trying to make himself look the part.
He has been eating less food and exercising to keep fit. He is focusing on aerobic exercises instead of weight training.
A drama production official said, ``His arms and legs are longer than normal people due to his tall height. His clothes for this drama are going to be separately tailored. This drama is showing a modern hero instead of the traditional ones of past dramas. Song is already adjusting himself well to the character.''
The new MBC drama was inspired by a cartoon created by Park Bong-sung and will air in March.

배우 송일국이 차기 작품을 위해 무려 15kg을 감량한 것으로 알려졌다.
송일국은 MBC새 주말 특별기획 "신이라 불리운 사나이"의 촬영을 앞두고 몸 만들기에 한창이다. 185cm의 키, 몸무게 90kg에 육박하는 건장한 몸을 자랑하던 송일국은 최근 15kg를 감량해 70kg 중반까지 체중을 줄였다.
드라마 관계자는 주인공 캐릭터는 날렵하고 탄탄한 몸매의 소유자라고 말했다. 송일국은 원작속 인물과 최대한 유사한 외모를 갖추기 위해 노력하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.
송일국은 칼로리 섭취를 줄이고 웨이트 트레이닝보다 유산소 운동 위주로 매끈한 몸매를 만드는 중이다.
드라마 관계자는 "키가 큰 송일국은 유독 팔다리가 일반인보다 긴 편이다. 드라마에서 입을 옷들은 따로 주문 제작할 계획"이라면서 ``이 드라마는 기존의 전통적 영웅이 아닌 현대적 영웅의 모습을 세련되게 그렸다. 송일국은 이미 캐릭터에 잘 적응하고 있다"고 말했다.
새로 시작할 MBC 드라마 "신이라 불리운 사나이"는 박봉성 화백의 동명 만화를 원작으로 한 작품이며 오는 3월에 방송될 예정이다.
