Breast Implants Removed

Former Olympic hurdle champion Jana Rawlinson, 27, has had her highly-publicized and much-wanted breast implants taken out, attracting media attention, two week after she frightened media last December, announcing remarriage to her estranged husband and manager Chris.

Rawlinson failed to compete in Beijing Olympics due to her toe injury, although she won two world championships in women's 400m hurdle ― one in Osaka in 2007 and the other in Paris in 2003.

"Yep, I'm back to being flat as a pancake," Rawlinson tells Woman's Day magazine, out Saturday, according to The Daily Telegraph.

She spent $13,000 (about 15 million won) in the past 14 months, getting the augmentation, the paper said.

In a candid interview, Jana said she had the implants removed as she felt they were affecting her performance on the track.

"Every time I raced I panicked about whether I was letting my country down, all for my own vanity," she said.

"I absolutely loved having bigger boobs, but I don't want to short-change Australia either. I want to feel the most athletic I can, to know that I'm standing on the track in London [2012 Olympics] the fittest I can be."

Rawlinson has not ruled out going back under the knife and having the fake breasts re-implanted.

"I can always get my breasts enhanced again when I finish my career. I know there are no medals for being beautiful," said Rawlinson.

롤린슨은 2003년 파리, 2007년 오사카 세계선수권대회 여자 400m 허들에서 두 차례나 세계를 제패하고도 발가락 부상으로 베이징 올림픽에 출전하지 못했었다.

지난 2일 여성의 날 매거진을 통해 롤린슨은 "팬케이크처럼 납짝한 가슴으로 다시 돌아간다"며 가슴보형물 제거 수술 소식을 전했다.

그녀는 약 14개월 전에 1만3,000달러 (한화 약 1,500만원)를 주고 유방확대 수술을 받았었다.

로린슨은 수술을 다시 받아 가짜 가슴을 다시 달 가능성을 배제하지 않았다.

데일리 텔레그래프의 소식통에 따르면 그녀의 가슴 보형물 제거 수술은 기록 단축을 위한 것으로 알려졌다. 이에 롤린슨은 "내 허영심때문에 혹시 나라의 위신을 떨어뜨리지 않을까"하는 생각이 결정적이었다고 수술의 솔직한 이유를 밝혔다.

그녀는 "큰 가슴을 갖는 게 훨씬 좋지만, 호주에 폐를 끼치고 싶지 않다"며 "런던올림픽 레이스에 나설 때는 운동선수로써 가장 좋은 몸을 만들고 싶다"고 덧붙였다.

올림픽을 준비 중인 롤린슨은 "선수생활이 끝나면 유방확대수술은 언제든 받을 수 있지만 아름답다고 얻을 수 있는 메달은 없는 것으로 안다"고 밝혔다.
