Police believe the two killed themselves because handwritten suicide notes were found at the scene. There were no signs of foul play, investigators said. The two bodies were identified as a man, 49, and a woman, 29, whose residences were registered in Gyeongsang Province. Police didn't disclose further details.

A man pretended to be a police officer to blackmail and rape a teenage girl in Gwangju, police said Wednesday. Gwangju Bukbu police said the suspect, 28, allegedly raped the victim, 19, in a car in Bukgu, Gwangju, on April 29. They got to know each other through a dating app and met for “compensated dating” ― a term referring to prostitution in Korean internet communities. When they met, the man introduced himself as an undercover cop and threatened to arrest her if she refused to have unpaid sex with him, according to police. The suspect also attempted to extort 500,000 won ($420) from the girl in return for not reporting to police, they said. But the girl told police after finding him suspicious. Police have sought an arrest warrant for the man.
