Courtesy of National Police AgencyThe world's largest and most influential professional association for police leaders opened its Asia-Pacific office in South Korea on Thursday, the National Police Agency (NPA) said.The Asia-Pacific World Regional Office of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) began its operations at the NPA in central Seoul, the agency said.The United States-headquartered IACP is the world's largest nonprofit organization of police commanders and currently has about 31,500 members in 168 countries. 2 arrested for locking up 12-year-old girl for sex

gettyimagesbankTwo men have been arrested for allegedly locking up an elementary school girl for over 10 hours for sex, police said Wednesday.The two unidentified men, both in their early 20s, were suspected of locking up the 12-year-old at a residential "officetel" building in Shindang-dong, central Seoul, for about 11 hours from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The girl was discovered after her mother filed a missing report with police.Police believe the two had sex with the juvenile during the lockup. The suspects, however, have reportedly denied sleeping with her and claimed they became close to the girl through social media six months ago.Authorities plan to further investigate the case and review whether to file a warrant to further detain the suspects. A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday after killing his ex-girlfriend's mother and injuring her younger brother, police said.The ex-girlfriend, 21, has been under police protection since she reported the suspect to police Monday for raping her.The man visited her home in eastern Seoul on Friday afternoon and stabbed her 46-year-old mother and 13-year-old brother in the chest and neck, according to Songpa Police Station.The mother died later at hospital, and the brother is in critical condition, police said. The former girlfriend was not at home at the time.Police rushed to the scene after her father, who was talking with the mother on the phone, reported the incident.
