Big nationwide discounts mark Chuseok holiday

National museums, theme parks and other paid tourist attractions will offer big discounts to visitors from Sept 10 to 18 to celebrate the Chuseok holiday.
Up to 40 discounts will be offered at national museums and theme parks. Lotte World and Seoul Land will sell tickets at a 40 percent discount to visitors in hanbok -- traditional costume. Nearly 420 accommodation places and paid tourist attractions will have discounts up to 55 percent.
On Chuseok, on Sept 15, baseball game tickets will be available at half price and entry to royal palaces will be free.
The government said Tuesday it had won the support of hundreds of business operators to launch the nationwide discounts during the holidays, which it believes will help boost domestic spending.

Meanwhile, nearly 6,000 stores in the nation's five best-known entertainment streets will offer big price cuts for nearly two weeks from Sept. 29.
The five streets are Itaewon Fashion Street and Garosu-gil in Seoul, Euneungjeongi Culture Street in Daejeon, Chungjang-ro in Gwangju and the Stream Street in Pohang.
